20/20

Honey, let me tell you
That man was built of clay
We rose from rust red earth and spread
Across it a blanket of broken bottles and cigarettes
We cut ourselves, bled sweet and bitter
Made dirt to crimson mud

Strange how we push and prod our shapes
Trying to smooth away everything that scares us
Leaving crescent moon cuts on our arms and stomachs,
bruises up and down our body’s
We break
Before we realise that imperfection is perfection

If only we could understand
That our hands lifted our hands
That fate and time are just us, pulling our own strings
And I am so afraid of becoming
Because I won’t realize what I’ve done to me
Till I feel that acid shock -

I haven’t look over my shoulder in a while
